Avocado toast does not need a recipe, but the hemp hearts, lemon zest, and chili crisp turn a tired brunch staple into something worth photographing.
Hemp Avocado Toast
Yields 2 slices. Prep 5 minutes.
Ingredients
- 2 slices sourdough or sturdy whole-grain bread
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Zest of 1/2 lemon
- Flaky salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons hemp hearts
- 1 teaspoon hemp seed oil
- Optional: red pepper flakes, chili crisp, microgreens, soft-boiled egg
Method
- Toast bread until deeply golden.
- Halve and pit the avocado. Scoop into a bowl. Mash with lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Leave some texture.
- Spread avocado on toast in a thick layer.
- Top with lemon zest, hemp hearts, hemp seed oil, and chili if using.
- Add a soft-boiled egg or microgreens for a heartier breakfast.
