Hemp Avocado Toast

Avocado toast does not need a recipe, but the hemp hearts, lemon zest, and chili crisp turn a tired brunch staple into something worth photographing.

Hemp Avocado Toast

Yields 2 slices. Prep 5 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices sourdough or sturdy whole-grain bread
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Zest of 1/2 lemon
  • Flaky salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons hemp hearts
  • 1 teaspoon hemp seed oil
  • Optional: red pepper flakes, chili crisp, microgreens, soft-boiled egg

Method

  1. Toast bread until deeply golden.
  2. Halve and pit the avocado. Scoop into a bowl. Mash with lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Leave some texture.
  3. Spread avocado on toast in a thick layer.
  4. Top with lemon zest, hemp hearts, hemp seed oil, and chili if using.
  5. Add a soft-boiled egg or microgreens for a heartier breakfast.
